Interview to G5 Students in OYIS Mel Oyister 

This writing piece is about interviewing OYIS teachers and students to understand more about them. On March 12, 2024 we interviewed Mel who is a grade 5 student.

What do you enjoy most about being a student in OYIS? I enjoy having UOI because in Japanese schools we don't get to have UOI. We just have to study the streets of Osaka or something. Where did you live before coming here? I lived in America.

Do you enjoy life in America or Japan more? I like Japan more. Yeah, I don't know, I mean the food here tastes great. 

What do you dislike about being an OYIS student? What do I dislike? Probably like, so, I don't know because like, I never thought of this before but recess time because I want the schedule to be back to normal because it's kind of weird these days.

We don't have that 15 minute break.  What's your favorite food in Japan? Sushi.
