Caesar's School Lunches: PROS and CONS
As we all know, our school lunches are made, placed, and served to us; we pick them up, take the bento to our classroom, and get into eating. But, what do students really think of these school lunches?
Julia, a Grade 7 student at Nakatsu OYIS said, "The best thing about school lunch is how good the food can actually be. The food can actually be really good, and when I said good, like REALLY good. The food I have eaten that I think is very good is the tomato pasta, the teriyaki chicken, the roasted pork, and the fried fish with tar tar sauce. After looking into the menu, there is beef yakiniku, and Korean chicken. Sounds good," about the delicious school lunches.
'Ms. Laura received free Caesars lunches for her first few weeks at OYIS last year. Here's what she said about it: "Ahhh... well, it was nice because I didn't have to worry about buying groceries or paying for food, and after that I wanted to make my own lunch and bring it."' Ms. Jess, an English teacher at Tosabori added about what Miss Laura, an English teacher at OYIS stated.
But, they aren't always so great...
"The thing about school lunch that I don't really like is that they don't get our opinions about the school lunch. Besides the good lunches, I don't favor the other lunches. I would eat them, but I think that they can ask for our opinions about their lunch, and how they can improve. If the school lunches have this thing that would ask for what we want to eat and they would make it, that would be great. I would love to try what other things that they have that we would like," Julia stated.
("Another thing I don't really like about the school lunch is the topping on top of the white rice. I don't really like it, so I end up eating only 2/3 of the rice. It would be much better if they don't put any furikake on the rice, and if it was just plain," Julia also said about the food.)
Mr. Russell, the Science Teacher at OYIS stated, "I like the selection of meals they choose, and having some healthy elements like salad," but he also said, "I don't really need dessert in mine, and I usually end up microwaving it with the meal then not eating it. Sometimes it makes the food taste different. Maybe have some nice bread with it or some extra vegetables instead of the fruit/grapes/dessert/whatever?"
"A couple years ago, the lunch providers was different, and the providers kept changing. There used to be curry on Fridays, but now it is different." Gabi, a G7 student at Nakatsu OYIS said.
.
"The amount we have to pay for a school lunch is very expensive for such a small proportion. Getting lunch at 7-11 would be cheaper and more delicious." Anonymous stated.
So, these lunches are not what they quite may seem to the OYIS community without school lunches. The food can be really good, but at some points the food may be unenjoyable, as well as the past providers changing and the financial cost being expensive. Maybe we could change these flaws, and have a perfect school lunch int he future - yet, we are lucky to have school lunches at all.
