Ms. Eleanor: a School Librarian’s Life

This interview was written by Anli T.

Eleanor Duggan is a teacher at the school Osaka YMCA International School in Osaka, Japan.

There is only one thing she regrets in her life. It is that she did not go to McDonald’s yesterday. She really wanted to eat a burger there, but still, she ended up at Starbucks. In her life, she thinks that everything she does has a purpose. “Everything I do in life has its purpose and it doesn’t really matter if the result is good or bad, but I learned something from that, so I don’t really feel regret for anything.”

Ms. Eleanor still has her dream from her childhood. She wants to travel around the world, see different things, experience different things, and try different varieties of food. She still has that dream that she would travel as much as she can. Like doing nothing for a year, but traveling around the world the whole time. “I still have that dream that one day I would like to travel as much as possible for, like, one year doing nothing but traveling.”

There are places she wants to go to before she leaves Japan. She has a list of places she wants to go in Japan. There is Hokkaido, Wakayama, Kanazama, Aomori, and Ise. She has gone to Hokkaido, Ise, and Wakayama, and she went to Kanazawa during autumn break. She still has to go to Aomori. “There are places I want to go. I have a bucket list for Japan before I leave the country. I already got a lot of places one by one.”
