Mr. O’Leary: the Story of the PYP Coordinator
This interview was written by Kazuyuki J.
Mr. Brendan O’Leary is a PYP coordinator of OYIS. He helped my class do PYP-X research.
One of his happiest memories is when his two kids were born. Also, there were other memories. For example when it was his grandma’s birthday, he called his friends and family around him. He also loves music and playing really fun shows.
His saddest memory was when his father passed away about 7 years ago. For him, that was a difficult time. Before his father passed, he had a chance to get back to England and spend time with his father. He saw how hard it was for his mother and brothers and all of the family. It lasted for a long time but time just helps to heal.
He is a person that tries not to move away from challenges, so he’s had lots of challenges for him. When he first went to the university, he quit the first course. After that, he came home and got a new job, then he went back to the university. That was challenging and making big decisions when you don’t know what will happen.
Also, when his father was sick, he needed to leave his job in Japan and get back to his country (England). He needed to find a new job and a new house there. This experience was challenging on the money side and huge changes for his family. Also on the emotional side, it was tricky. But he got through it. He learned several things from these experiences.
