Student Government Back with a Blast

The OYIS Student Government (or, as we call them, StuGo) has reassembled and restarted, with new members joining the ranks and old members returning as of early October.

Our new president, Hitomi (G11), is leading this year’s StuGo, whose members in Tosabori consist of:

  • Erica (G12): class representative

  • Miyabi (G12): class representative

  • Anju (G11): sports & CAS coordinator

  • Eva (G11): academic coordinator

  • Felicia (G11): treasurer

  • Milan (G11): event coordinator

  • Ayato (G10): assistant event coordinator

  • Hariki (G10): assistant event coordinator

  • Jake (G10): student liaison officer

  • Aidan (G9): class representative

  • Miya (G9): student liaison officer

Quite a team! Last year’s president, In Hyuk (G12) is also involved as Hitomi’s guide and advisor regarding StuGo presidency, and a motivational coach for the rest of the members.

As autumn break fast approached, StuGo was busy planning a Halloween party to send students and staff off with fun activities, scary movies, and delicious snacks.

The party is also a way for StuGo to raise funds, so that future events can be bigger and better.

One idea that’s been in circulation is another prom; last year, we held our very first high school prom, but the organization and planning for it began rather late. Though everyone who attended clearly enjoyed it, there was room for improvement—this year, StuGo has begun thinking about and planning for it much earlier on, so that the coming prom will be something even greater than last year.

With autumn break beginning just tomorrow, it seems time is moving faster by the day; already, the first half of the semester is over. Have fun during the coming week, and Happy Halloween!
