OYIS Attends the Suito Kokusai Cultural Festival

On Saturday the 19th, Osaka Municipal Suito International Junior & Senior High School—our sister school—had its annual cultural festival, and they invited us to attend.

Several students and members of OYIS faculty visited Suito’s campus in Suminoe, taking the New Tram transportation system to reach it.

Suito Kokusai had many different activities, games, and performances going on throughout their five-story school building (though the fifth floor was off-limits).

The first floor hosted various stage performances in the indoor gym; there were solo poetry readings, band performances, dance groups, and more.

The second, third, and fourth floors were all interactive games and activities. Suito Kokusai students had organized several different haunted house walkthroughs, all of which had long lines and reservation times. A designated photo booth room had also been set up with three separate sections where people could take pictures, all decorated in a different style. Each floor had various games to partake in, and a student translator, or translators, in case there were visitors who didn’t understand Japanese.

Two OYIS student visitors show off their score (4 out of 5) from a short quiz game/activity with questions about Suito Kokusai.

It seems some of the students and staff were slightly envious of Suito Kokusai’s luxurious and spacious campus building; they had offices and classrooms for what seemed like anything and everything—even a student kitchen, containing stations with sinks, stoves, cooking utensils, and more!

Though the OYIS members were there only for a few hours, they were able to learn much of Suito Kokusai’s school culture, and hope to collaborate with them in the future.
