Arts Festival!

I’m sure if you’re a student in IB PYP, MYP, or DP you probably attended the OYIS arts festival on the 15th of December. If you did then I’m sure we can agree that it was an awesome event.

Various works of art made by the students were presented at the opening to the Nakatsu gym, with some hanging from walls, and others placed meticulously on stands around the area. While guests looked at the gorgeous artworks, they also had the opportunity to buy some food and drinks outside while perusing a winter market! Students and teachers all donated used clothes and items to sell in the market in an effort to raise funds for the art department, and in my opinion, it was a great success. We also had some lovely grade 11 students volunteering to help sell goods for their CAS experiences, and we could not have done it without them.

After guests were finished looking around and hopefully buying a few trinkets, they were able to sit in the gym to watch a variety of incredible performances by music students at OYIS!

Different grades performed in ensembles, duets, and even solos to show off their amazing musical talent! The audience clapped along and even shone their flashlights during particularly heartwarming numbers. Thank you to all the performers and we hope next year the arts festival will be just as good!
