The Umbrella

Kindness is all around us, and It’s nice to realize it instead of just focusing on bad news. Even if you don't notice it. This is why I want to share this story of a man that stopped and went out of his way to help three girls just going to school.

My friends and I were walking to school from the train and we had forgotten our umbrellas, so we were just walking in the rain. A man in a fancy suit, who looked like he was in a hurry to get to work, stopped and covered us with his umbrella, not thinking twice about getting wet himself. He walked with us until he had to turn a different way, but that brightened my day and we still think and talk about him today. It got me thinking, if a man I had never met before could be so kind to me, why should we not pay it forward?

I asked one of my friends, who was with me, how this made them feel. She said, “It made me feel good, because there was a kind person out there that cared.”

 Let's all take a step and not get caught up in our own needs, but instead, focus on the needs of others. Maybe the people you were kind to will pay it forward as well. 

Take a step to be kind, and if someone is kind to you don't ignore it, acknowledge it and share it with others.
